Troubleshooting, fixed at the cause

Broken checkouts, plugin conflicts, white screens, slow pages. I reproduce the problem, turn on WordPress debugging, read debug.log, and fix the cause instead of the symptom.

How a fix goes

  1. Reproduce the issue

    Get the broken checkout, white screen, or error to happen on purpose, on a staging copy when possible.

  2. Inspect the errors

    Turn on WordPress debugging, read debug.log and the browser console, and check recent plugin or theme changes.

  3. Identify the cause

    Narrow it down: a plugin conflict, a theme function, a server limit, or a bad update. Confirm by isolating it.

  4. Fix and verify

    Apply the fix, test the original scenario again, and leave notes so it doesn't come back next update.

I've been building websites for over 10 years, starting with WordPress and growing from there into custom web applications. I'm a programmer first: what I enjoy is working out why something doesn't behave, and building the thing that makes it work.

I work with PandaVisuals on client projects. They handle design, and I take care of development, deployment, and maintenance. Much of my work involves solving practical problems: tracking down plugin errors, getting a checkout working, or building a tool that makes day-to-day work easier.

AI-assisted development is part of how I work. I use it to move faster on implementation and to explore approaches, and I review, test, and ship what comes out of it. Panda Central is the clearest example.

How I work

  1. Understand the project

    What the site or app needs to do, what's currently broken, and the technical constraints. I ask the technical questions early.

  2. Coordinate on design

    I work with PandaVisuals on the design and what it needs from the build, so the layout and the implementation line up before development starts.

  3. Build, debug, and test

    I develop the site or app, test it on real devices and browsers, and track down anything that doesn't behave.

  4. Deploy and keep it running

    Hosting, DNS, and deployment, then updates, backups, and technical care after launch.

The problem

Every client WordPress site needs the same recurring care: core, plugin, and theme updates, backups, uptime checks, and a periodic report. Across many sites, doing that one admin login at a time is slow and easy to get wrong.

What I built

A self-hosted dashboard that shows every managed site in one place, runs updates as queued background jobs, logs every action and failure, and groups sites by client for reporting. The idea grew out of the client sites PandaVisuals and I look after; I planned and developed the application with substantial AI assistance, and we use it every day.
